The Grey Dog Festival aims to create a conversation about mental health amongst young people, to bring the subject out of the shadows, and challenge the stigma attached to it, so that the barriers to seeking support are removed.
Many people use music as a coping device when times are hard and they feel alone, isolated and desperate. The Grey Dog Festival is about taking that individual coping strategy and making it a tool for bringing people together. Talking is the start of understanding you are not alone, that there are people who will listen, and that there is support available.
There will be a full day of live music on three stages:
The Grey Dog Main Stage
(12pm until 10.30pm)
With performances by an amazing mix of talented bands and solo artist. This is the main stage in moreways than one. Each of the acts that will perform have been selected not only for their amazing musical talent but also for their willingness to talk openly about mental ill health.
Mind Over Matter Stage
(12pm until 6pm)
If hip hop and spoken word is your thing then don't miss this stage. Hosted by London based Mind Over Matter an organisation that raises awarenes of mental health and raises funds for mental health charities. They run events throughout the year in various locations across London.
The stage has 6 headline acts and a chance for you to perform in open mic sessions.
The Woodland Acoustic Stage
(12pm until 6pm)
Down in the 14 acres of of peaceful woodland you will find a small ampitheatre which is the base for our acoustic stage. Talented singers will help you while away the afternoon. This is the place to be for that really chilled out vibe.
As well as music there will be mindfullness and yoga workshops, charity stalls, merchandise stalls, food vendors and more.
There will be time to talk, to explore and share.
Please be aware this will be an alcohol free festival therefore no alcohol will be allowed at the venue.
Although the main festival takes place on Saturday we want to extend the experience. So whether you are local to the venue or travelling to attend you can make a weeked of it.
Camping is just £10 per person or £30 for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
The venue has 14 acres of beautiful woodland with large clearings ideal for camping. There is a toilet block with hot showers.
Camping is available on both the Friday and Saturday nights. On the Friday night there will be a chilled acoustic jam session around the campfire, evening mindfullness workshop and a yoga session all based in 14 acres of beautiful woodlands.
There will be a communal BBQ area to prepare meals on the Friday night or a cooked breakfast Saturday and Sunday morning.
After the main stage finishes on Saturday night why rush off? Just head back to your tent to unwind. Then head home on Sunday morning relaxed and refreshed.
We are curerrently taking applications from individuals or organisations interested in having a stall at the festival. Food vendors are also asked to apply.
